A Day with Daddy

I found myself on call Father's Day Weekend, which means Scott and Andy were on their own most of the time. Since Andy was invited to a friend's birthday party on that Saturday afternoon, Scott was determined to keep Andy busy (i.e., wear him out) so he could take some sort of a nap beforehand.

They started the day with a bike ride to the park. Andy enjoys helping to get ready by "pumping up" the tires.

The bike ride was followed by a picnic, a current favorite of Andy's. Catered by McDonald's, of course. The picnic was held outside the Deanna Rose Farmstead and was followed by a visit to the cow barn to check out the "Big cow" and "Baby cow."

Then it was time to head home - I'm not sure they even made it out of the parking lot before Andy was asleep.

After his nap, it was time for the birthday party at Gymboree. He had a great time playing with the other kids, though he seemed to be especially partial to the birthday girl. Who can blame him, she's a pretty cute 3 year old.

Needless to say, we were all pretty tired by the end of the day. Overall, I would say the boys had a great Father's Day Weekend hanging out together.

A Day Out with Thomas

Last weekend, the three of us went to see everyone's favorite train, Thomas the Tank Engine, as he made his annual stop in the area. In theory, the highlight of A Day Out with Thomas, is a 25 minute train ride. I say in theory because Andy seemed to enjoy the shuttle from the parking lot to the train depot (via school bus) and the pizza we had for lunch more than the actual train ride. In particular, the pizza as he exclaimed, "I love pizza!!!" as we pulled in the Pizza Hut parking lot. That's not to say he didn't enjoy seeing his friend Thomas in person, though. The event also included a local fire truck on display (another favorite of Andy's), a storytelling tent, toy and model trains, and a petting zoo.
