A Day at the Zoo!

We are on our second night in the new bed. So far, knock on wood, no problems. We moved the rest of his furniture into his new room tonight. He is still pretty excited about his new room.

Today we took Andy to the zoo to reward him for sleeping in his new bed all night. The zoo was a big hit, especially the train. We rode the train three times!

"New Bed! New Bed! NewBed!"

Andy's new big boy bed and train bedding arrived this week. As Grandma Linda can confirm, Andy has been downright giddy about his new bed. He fell right to sleep in it tonight, but we don't expect that to always be the case. It is only a matter of time before he figures out how easy it is to exit the new bed.

Abby Comes to Visit

This weekend Aunt Michelle and Baby Abby came to visit. Andy was very excited to show off for his visitors. Our guest bed is now know as Aunt Michelle's bed and he keeps asking to go with Abby to see Uncle Dan.

We had the pleasure of kissing and cuddling with our sweet little niece for a weekend. Hopefully, we will see them again soon, Uncle Dan included.

We took a few pictures of the kids this morning at breakfast.

At Home With Our 2 Year Old

Life is pretty good when you're two (and have fun parents)! Spring has finally arrived, which means it is time to stomp in puddles every chance we get.

The Easter bunny also made a stop at our house. Apparently, he was aware of Andy's love of jelly beans because all of the eggs contained jelly beans..cavities here we come.

We also dyed Easter eggs, however, only 6 of the 12 survived the process. Andy is a big hard boiled egg fan.

Last Thursday a very large box arrived from Salt Lake City (THANK YOU SHAWN!). Andy had waited all day for me to get home from work to open "mommy's box". To Andy's delight, the box was full of packing peanuts and to my delight, maternity clothes. It didn't take him long to dive head first into the box. His excitement was well worth the clean up effort.

Eggstravaganza

This past Sunday, Cori and I took Andy to a local Easter egg hunt, dubbed "Eggstravaganza." Eggs were "hidden" throughout three soccer fields, and after the horn blew, the kids were turned loose!

Andy needed a bit of coaching at first, but still managed to gather a few eggs...

After the hunt concluded (after about 5 minutes), Andy got a quick tour of one of his favorite things... a fire truck! Andy & I posed for a picture on the back bumper - I am saying "Cheese!" and he is not. Go figure.

He then wanted to visit the famous Easter Bunny as seen above. Much to our surprise, he was a big fan. He first gave the bunny five as he left and then a big hug!

Train Show

Yesterday morning, Andy and I went to the "World's Greatest Hobby on Tour" train show in downtown KC, MO, or as Andy might describe it, "Heaven." There were many intricate model trains running throughout the exhibition hall, which lead to a lot of pointing....

Our favorite exhibit was an extremely long freight train, that slowly chugged along the track (thus it was continually referred to as the "Slow Train" for the rest of the day). The track was only a foot or so off the ground, which allowed for a close look...

In addition to the model trains, there was a play area set up with 100+ Thomas the Train toys and tents. Andy, as usual, enjoyed the toy trains. He emphatically wanted to make sure I saw the "milk" tanker car...

We topped off the outing with a quick bite to eat at McDonald's - Andy loves those chicken McNuggets (but not as much as trains)!
All in all, it was a great time!

Please and a Baby Dump Truck

Video #1: We have been working very hard at our house to instill some politeness in our son, starting with please. Apparently, actually saying the word is too much of a strain for him. Instead, he has chosen to sign the word and if he really wants something, then he will vigorously sign using both hands. When asked to use his words, he performs the sign on his face. He does finally say please tonight, but it comes out "cheese". It all counts in my book. Our next task....Thank you! (translation: toto=pillow)

Video #2: Our son has remained consistent in his request for a baby dump truck when given the sister or brother option.

He continues to amaze and humor us daily. Tonight he told us he wanted to go "to the truck". When we asked why, he replied (to) "see baby Abby". Apparently, his 5 month old cousin has made quite the impact. I just hope his own sibling will do the same!
